Turku Citizen Dashboard Hackathon – How to communicate and visualize open data

 

Attention, data visualisation enthusiasts and experts! At SHIFT 2020 Kick-off, the City of Turku launched a hackathon challenge of how to visualize open data. 

The goal of the City of Turku is to gain a strong sense of what kind of information is needed, valuable, and meaningful to its citizens, companies, and other operators. Also, they want to know what kinds of data combinations would be useful to the citizens. They may not even know they need it, yet!

The top three pitches will be awarded at the SHIFT Main Event on 27 October. The winner of the challenge will receive a price of 10 000 €. Second and third places will be granted with 4 000 € and 1 000 € respectively.

27 September at 23:59 EEST, last chance to submit the video pitching
28 September to 2 October, Judgement week
5 October, Voting begins at kerrokantasi.turku.fi open hearing platform
25 October, Voting ends
27 October, Announcing the winners at SHIFT Business Webstival main event
28 October, Showcasing the winners at the City of Turku’s virtual stand at SHIFT Business Webstival main event.

Final pitching is done by a 2 to 5 minutes long video due September 27th.  The jury will choose between 3 and 6 of the best pitches to advance to the open hearing at kerrokantasi.turku.fi platform, where the users of the service will be able to vote for the winner. The top three pitches will be awarded in the SHIFT Main Event on 27 October.
