YONG SE KIM

Director, Turku Design Studio, University of Turku

Yong Se Kim is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Turku, Finland, and directs the Turku Design Studio. He is directing the Digital Design track in Mechanical Engineering and started the new thematic module on Service Design Thinking for master students in the Faculty of Technology and the School of Economics.

Yong Se Kim received PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Design Division of Stanford University with PhD minor in Computer Science. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Professor at Sungkyunkwan University.

Yong Se Kim has served the full term of 12 years in the Advisory Board of the Design Society  and a member of the steering committee of its Product-Service Systems Design special interest group. He is also on the committee of the ServDes  composed of 11 global academic leaders in Service Design.

His research areas include Design Thinking, Product-Service Systems Design, Service Design, Customer Experience Design, Design Cognition and Informatics.
