Coaching toward organisational resilience

In this SHIFT Blog, our partner Anna Strazdina from Juju Works discusses future readiness from the view point of organizational resilience.

Pro tip – Anna will also be giving non-stop speed coaching at SHIFT 2023!

All this talk about future readiness, ever-changing environment and technology, predictability or lack thereof. It’s in your feed, it’s in our conversations, and it’s one of the themes of SHIFT 2023. But what exactly is future readiness in your organisation – what does it mean, what areas does it comprise, and who does it affect?

Future readiness goes hand in hand with organisational resilience; how we react and adapt to change, how we survive.

Future readiness is defined as an evolution plan and capability to adapt to market demands in the future – foreseeable and beyond. Future readiness goes hand in hand with organisational resilience; how we react and adapt to change, how we survive – and not only survive but even thrive in chaos, and how we as a company bounce back from crisis and sudden change.

There are as many elements of organisation resilience as there are organisations, but one aspect remains regardless of field or size – talent. No matter how advanced your technology, how agile your systems, if you cannot attract and retain the best workforce, you will eventually fail.

In order to grow responsibly and sustainably, an organisation needs to invest in training and upskilling its employees.

In order to grow responsibly and sustainably, an organisation needs to invest in training and upskilling its employees. Capable and motivated leaders with clear, accountable goals are essential to success. And this, as we see it, is where coaching comes in. Providing business coaching to your employees (traditionally leaders, but maybe your company will be the one to branch out and offer even more support to the team?) allows for measurable growth, trackable goals and a more thorough use of skillset and motivation, resulting in happier employees who want to stay and grow within your organisation.

Well-being and maintaining a good work-life balance are still widely considered the responsibilities of an employee, not the employer. Shifting this, taking care of your company’s talent – not just basic healthcare, a ping pong table and the odd breakfast, but actually ensuring your employees thrive during and outside the working hours, will set your company apart in the future.
