Milla Wirén

Research Manager at Disruption Lab, University of Turku School of Economics

Dr. Milla Wirén (D.Sc. Econ. & Bus. Adm.) is interested in the interfaces between man and machine, between physical and virtual, and her research spans digitalization as a socio-technological phenomenon, disruption, future of work, strategy as a process and practice, and philosophy of science. She works currently as the Research Manager in the Laboratory of Business Disruption Research at the Centre for Collaborative Research at the University of Turku School of Economics.

With a colorful background in strategic communications, management consulting, board work, journalism, classical music, and entrepreneurship, she values interventionist research virtues that seek contributions to both theory and practice.

At SHIFT 2020, Milla encourages us to stop believing in crystal balls and fortune-telling. Learning the routines of living with constant change is a future-proof skill, which helps us to navigate the radical technological advances, looming environmental calamities, and global socio-political turbulence.

“We’re used to thinking that stability is the norm, and change is an exception. However, the very opposite is true.”
