SHIFT Business Festival 2022 themes

Leadership in digitalized world

The rapid changes the whole world has gone through in the last few years have brought the importance of leadership and change management to the forefront. As we are finding new ways to lead in a changing landscape and reshaping leadership for growth, we need to ask: what is the role of leadership in tomorrow’s organizations? At SHIFT we will discuss how to drive organizations through disruption and most importantly, how to reconnect humans and technology creatively to drive future growth.

Climate change and technology

Climate change is not an if or when question anymore. There is no doubt that we have a crisis on our hands, but with the biggest crisis comes also the biggest opportunities. The inevitable change demands us to shift our focus on innovative ways to navigate through the crisis and find solutions to create a sustainable future for our planet and us. At SHIFT we will tackle this crisis by facilitating discussion on how to be part of the solution with innovations and technology.

#RECONNECT

Opening keynote

Magnus Lindkvist  – Why The Future Begins – How small can compete in a world of big

To say that the future is unpredictable is a cliché. That doesn’t mean we stop trying to predict, plan and strategize. We live in a world of big ideas about the future – from climate to geopolitics. But what if tomorrow’s opportunities lie in the small, invisible, and strange ideas? What can we learn from pop music composers? Why does success start with failure (and vice versa)? And just why should we all follow aliens?

11.45-12.00

#CLIMATE CHANGE

Business talk

Katri Kennedy, Ramboll – Sustainability as a strategic choice

Sustainability is not just about planning and reporting – it is about converting strategies and concepts into tangible results with long-lasting positive impacts and added economic value. Creating value through sustainability means moving beyond compliance and managing sustainability as a business opportunity and value driver. Viewed as a strategic choice, there is no reason why sustainability strategy should be different from business strategy.

12.00-12.15

#CLIMATE CHANGE

Business talk

Inka Orko, VTT – Sustainable Business by Circular Design

Circular solutions and sustainable operations are becoming a must in responding to the current environmental challenges, but also from the business perspective: there is an increasing demand for raw materials that are becoming scarce and expensive, and in addition, customer demands, tightening regulations, and green funding schemes are driving the change. We also know that up to 80% of a product’s environmental footprint is pre-determined already at the design board.

We can bring disruptive and resilient circular solutions to the market by applying circular design principles and methods throughout business operations. VTT is developing circular design methodologies and the talk will give insights and examples of circular design.

By creating the world’s first nature-backed money, we can cap the economy with how much emissions and consumption nature can sustain.
