Magnus Lindkvist – Why The Future Begins – How small can compete in a world of big
To say that the future is unpredictable is a cliché. That doesn’t mean we stop trying to predict, plan and strategize. We live in a world of big ideas about the future – from climate to geopolitics. But what if tomorrow’s opportunities lie in the small, invisible, and strange ideas? What can we learn from pop music composers? Why does success start with failure (and vice versa)? And just why should we all follow aliens?

Business talk
Katri Kennedy, Ramboll – Sustainability as a strategic choice
Sustainability is not just about planning and reporting – it is about converting strategies and concepts into tangible results with long-lasting positive impacts and added economic value. Creating value through sustainability means moving beyond compliance and managing sustainability as a business opportunity and value driver. Viewed as a strategic choice, there is no reason why sustainability strategy should be different from business strategy.

Business talk
Inka Orko, VTT – Sustainable Business by Circular Design
Circular solutions and sustainable operations are becoming a must in responding to the current environmental challenges, but also from the business perspective: there is an increasing demand for raw materials that are becoming scarce and expensive, and in addition, customer demands, tightening regulations, and green funding schemes are driving the change. We also know that up to 80% of a product’s environmental footprint is pre-determined already at the design board.
We can bring disruptive and resilient circular solutions to the market by applying circular design principles and methods throughout business operations. VTT is developing circular design methodologies and the talk will give insights and examples of circular design.
