This year Silo.AI, the Largest Private AI Lab in the Nordics is a major partner at SHIFT 2019. The Turku-born company offers scalable expertise in machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing. 

Silo.AI strongly believes in the future of human-centered AI solutions to provide strategic assets to the core business of its customers in a measurable, safe and explainable way.

At SHIFT 2019, the company participates into four panels and hosts SHIFT attendees at AI Lounge together with the Finnish AI accelerator FAIA, where Finnish AI companies gather to discuss AI-driven business and solutions. Hope to see you at the panels and AI Lounge!

One of their most well-known cases is the work Silo.AI has shared publicly is with Finnair. The AI journey of Finnair and that of another top Finnish company, Posti, will be shared on the first festival day at the panel entitled ‘How to onboard AI into your business? Lessons learned from two different approaches’. 

The speakers include Juha Karstunen, Digital Transformation Lead at Finnair and Riku Tapper, Director of AI center-of-excellence at Posti. The panel will be moderated by Silo.AI Co-founder Ville Hulkko, who previously co-founded the computer vision startup Valossa.

Thursday 29.8.
HOW TO ONBOARD AI INTO YOUR BUSINESS? LESSONS LEARNED FROM TWO DIFFERENT APPROACHES

The second festival day starts with a more industrial and future-looking setup as the Westin stage is taken over by a panel focusing on AI, edge computing and autonomous operations. Edge computing includes a range of technologies where computing happens near the sensors capturing the data, which permits more efficient and more accurate calculations even in areas of poor connectivity. 

Join Pauliina Kunvik, Director R&D and Product Management at Hiab, Jyri Kylä-Kaila, CEO at Epec and Jarkko Ruokojärvi, Global Business Development Manager at Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology to learn how these companies are leveraging these technologies and how they see their future. The panel is moderated by Silo.AI’s Niko Vuokko, former Director of Strategy & Business Development at Eniram (acquired by Wärtsilä).

AI: EDGE & AUTONOMOUS OPERATIONS

Friday continues with an awakening topic as Tero Ojanperä, Chairman at Silo.AI and Colin Shearer, Chief Strategy Officer at Houston Analytics discuss ‘Deploying AI: are we being honest about how hard it really is?’. Moderated by Alexander Törnroth who leads the Finnish AI accelerator FAIA, the panel focuses on what company leadership and boards of directors should do to transform their business systematically with AI.

DEPLOYING AI: ARE WE BEING HONEST ABOUT HOW HARD IT REALLY IS?

Finally, the AI topic and SHIFT 2019 is closed by a keynote and panel on the current state of AI and the future developments. The discussion, entitled ‘Cut the hype: AI today and in the future’ is started by a keynote from Yoshua Bengio, Professor at the University of Montreal and Founder of Element AI, who is considered the Father of Deep Learning. 

The panel continues with Nordic AI pioneers including Peter Sarlin, Professor Of Practice At Hanken, Co-founder & CEO at Silo.AI, Christian Guttmann, VP & Chief AI & Data Scientist at Tieto and Luka Crnkovic-Friis, CEO and Founder of Peltarion.
